Monolith Soft Announces “Large Expansion” As Work On Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Continues

Monolith Soft’s been pretty busy over the past few years, not only leading development on the latest Xenoblade titles, but also offering co-development support on the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Splatoon 2, and the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

We’re yet to hear of a release date for Breath of the Wild 2 (or whatever it’ll end up being called), but Monolith isn’t being shy about bolstering its ranks as it gets to work. As reported by VGC, the company has announced a “large expansion” of staff at its Kyoto studio, with almost 40 job listings currently being open on its website.

Six of these are new roles, and while the majority of listings don’t specify any particular games or projects, several make reference to “the Legend of Zelda series”. You’d have to imagine that this means more staff are jumping on board to work on the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel – a project undoubtedly large in scale.

Originally announced during E3 2019, the sequel has been in the works since the development phase of the original game’s DLC. Previously, series director Eiji Aonuma has revealed that the game was born thanks to the development team having too many DLC ideas.
