Sonos Gives Longtime Customers Up To 30% Off New Purchases

In what appears to be a bid to help people avoid the retail insanity that is part of the upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, Sonos has announced a new twist on its trade-up program: If you own a qualifying Sonos product, you can score a 15% to 30% discount code that’s valid for new purchases on Sonos.com.

Sonos has made this offer before, to owners of its legacy products like the original Play:5. But at the time, the idea was to get these owners to switch to newer products so that Sonos could maintain a single version of its software. In order to qualify for the discount, you had to effectively disable your legacy product by letting Sonos deactivate via a software update.

That strategy did not go over well with owners of these older products, whose protests eventually convinced Sonos to rethink its approach. Now, you can keep using these older products as long as you don’t mind being left out of new features as they’re released.

The new Upgrade Program promotion is the exact opposite of the Trade-Up plan: Simply owning a qualifying older product is enough to earn you a discount code (one code per product). You can keep using the older product for as long as you like, and the discount code never expires.

And this time around, it’s not just legacy products that qualify. Almost all of Sonos’ gear from 2018 and earlier qualifies:

  • Connect (Gen 2)
  • Play:1
  • Play:3
  • Play:5 (Gen 2)
  • Playbar
  • Playbase

Owners of these products get 30% off any Sonos product:

  • Connect:AMP (Gen 1)
  • Connect (Gen 1)
  • Play:5 (Gen 1)

And, finally, you can get 30% off the Sonos Boost, if you still own a Sonos Bridge.

In other words, Sonos is giving away discounts to anyone who still owns its older products, and is asking nothing in return. To take advantage of the upgrade program, log in to your account on Sonos.com and look for the Upgrade tab.
