We know Pokémon cards are going up in value, but this might be a whole new level of insanity.
According to TMZ, the now-former rapper Logic recently purchased a 1999 PSA 10 first-edition Charizard for a whopping $226,000 (about £173,200) during a live auction.
CardHops at least confirmed it was a new record for this card – as the total transaction value exceeds $220k:
Logic also bought an original base set box for a cool $23,000. Here’s some insight into his recent purchases (via Instagram):
“When I was a kid I absolutely loved Pokémon but couldn’t afford the cards. I remember even trying to trade food stamps for theirs and now as an adult who has saved every penny he has made being able to enjoy something that I’ve loved since childhood now as a grown man is like buying back a piece of something I could never have, it’s not about the material it’s about the experience.”
