Poll: What’s The Best Metroid Game?

© Nintendo

The reveal and upcoming release of ‘Metroid 5’, better known as Metroid Dread, has had many of us going back to either revisit games in the franchise or catch up on ones we missed first time round. We compiled our personal ranking of the best Metroid games long ago, but we thought it was time to update that list and let Nintendo Life readers have their say.

With that in mind, we’re asking you to rate your favourite entries in the Metroid series and help us compile a reader-ranked list of every Metroid game from best to worst. Well, worst to best, actually — you can’t beat the suspence of ‘Descending Order’, can you?

Similar to our other reader-ranked polls, registered Nintendo Life users can simply click on the stars next to the titles listed below and give the Metroid games you’ve played a rating out of 10. The resulting ranking, which we’ll publish soon, is created from those fluid NL User Ratings and is therefore subject to change, even after publication.

If you’ve previously rated these games in our database — which many of you have over the years — thank you! If not, you can add your score to the game at any time, present or future, and it will still count and potentially influence the order.

So, charge up that Arm Cannon and get ready to unleash your ratings…

Note: We’ve included remakes and spin-offs in the selection below, although there are a few of exclusions: Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt and Metroid Prime: Blast Ball are both essentially demo versions of games that feature below, so they’ve been omitted, as has the GBA port of the NES original.

Rate every Metroid game you’ve played, you know, if you like:

Thank you all for rating your favourites and give us a shout if you think there’s anything missing. We’ll be revealing the results very soon, but remember: much like our platform Top 50s, the list will be fluid, so even if you miss out on voting before the results are revealed, you can still influence the ranking after publication.
