The coronavirus pandemic has had a pretty significant impact on Nintendo’s ability to produce and distribute Switch systems. The company first admitted that production had been affected way back in January, and after months of supply issues, it was only earlier this week that we first heard about the situation ‘returning to normal‘.

Now, Nintendo has provided an update on where things stand regarding game development. The news comes from Nintendo’s 80th General Shareholders Meeting Q&A, which has been translated and interpreted by Nintendo Life contributor, Robert Sephazon:

“Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer Shinya Takahashi says Nintendo has faced development delays due to COVID-19, but it will not affect upcoming releases. In the future, if the pandemic continues, there could be delays in future development and releases”.

As you can see, upcoming games have not been impacted – so there’s no need to worry over titles like Paper Mario: The Origami King which arrives on Switch next month – but we could start to see delays further down the line if the virus continues to spread.
